Children are automatically covered when you choose an HSBC Life Critical Illness/Critical Illness Plus or Life and Critical Illness/Life and Critical Illness Plus policy. 

Critical Illness  

• Children are covered from 30 days up to age 21 

• Receive £25,000 or 50% of your sum insured if your child is diagnosed with any ‘full payment’ health condition named on your policy 

• Receive £25,000 or 25% of sum insured if your child is diagnosed with any ‘additional payment’ condition 

 Critical Illness Plus  

• Children are covered from birth up to age 23 

• Receive £50,000 or 50% your sum insured if your child is diagnosed with full payment condition named on your policy 

• Receive £30,000 or 50% of sum insured if your child is diagnoses with an additional payment condition

If your child is diagnosed with a critical illness listed in your policy, you will receive a lump sum payment.  

Additional benefits include:  

• Access for children to certain Online Health Services at no extra charge [Link to page] 

• Child bereavement benefit. Receive £5,000 on a Critical Illness policy or £10,000 on Critical Illness Plus 

• Children’s Hospital Benefit with Critical Illness Plus: receive £100 per day where a dependent child stays in hospital for 7 to 30 consecutive nights
